Cataract Surgery
Cataract Surgery - A cataract is a clouding of the normally clear lens of the eye. When the lens becomes cloudy, light rays cannot pass easily through the eye and the image becomes blurry.

There are no medications, eye drops or exercises that will cause a cataract to disappear. When you are no longer able to see well enough to do the things you like to do, cataract surgery should be considered. Surgery is the only way to remove a cataract.

Surgery is performed on an outpatient basis. A local anesthetic will make the operation painless. Following surgery, a shield will be placed over the eye and the patient can return home within a few hours. A follow up visit is necessary the day following surgery to check the healing process of the eye. After a few weeks, a new prescription for glasses is obtained and you can once again enjoy clear sight.
