LASIK
LASIK - Laser In-situ Keratomileusis is an exciting new alternative to wearing glasses or contact lenses to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. This brief, outpatient procedure could significantly lessen your dependence on corrective lenses.

LASIK utilizes a laser to reshape the cornea by removing microscopic amounts of tissue with extreme precision. The reshaped cornea changes the light image that focuses on the retina allowing improved vision.

The procedure takes about 15 minutes and includes anesthetizing the eye by using eye drops. The physician makes a flap of the cornea and then the laser is applied to remove unwanted tissue. The flap is then repositioned to the corneal surface. Unlike other surgical procedures, the laser does not cut the eye, which prevents weakening of the cornea.

Following the procedure, you will notice a change in your vision almost immediately but improvement continues for several weeks. Generally you can return to your normal activities within 48 hours.
